Doctors are doing all they can to save the life of a one year old boy of Venezuelan descent, who was severely beaten by his uncle during an attack in Valencia on Saturday.
The incident took place at Mt Cartel, Valencia around 11pm.
According to reports, the baby’s father was attacked and beaten by a relative, following which the man then turned his attention to the child.
Both baby and father were found battered and bleeding.
The 28-year-old relative has since been arrested by police and remains in custody.
Police said the baby boy received injuries to his eyes, forehead, a broken leg and other injuries about the body.
The child was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital in serious condition but had to be transferred to Port-of-Spain when his condition began to deteriorate.
