Updated speed limits will be in effect from Monday, 10th June, along certain parts of major roadways, intersections and ramps.
The changes are listed in the Special Speed Limits (Amendment) Order, 2024 which was signed by Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan on May 28 and gazetted earlier this week.
The new limits apply to all vehicles except a tractor, and as explained in the Order, in this provision tractor does not include a goods vehicle or private motor car with or without trailer.
The speed limit is 65km at all times from the part of Lady Young Road from the Eastern Main Road to [the 3.8km post] a point 3.8km north of the Eastern Main Road.
The limit is 50km for the section of the Lady Young Road from the 3.8km post to its junction with St Ann’s Road.
Along the Western Main Road from Mucurapo Road to the intersection of the Western Main Road and Westland Avenue, a speed limit of 65km is in effect at all times.
The limit is 30km along the Valsayn Branch Road, Valsayn (off the Curepe Interchange) and Springvale Extension Road, Valsayn, at all times.
It’s 65km along the South Trunk Road from the Cross Crossing Interchange to Dumfries Road.
Along the Curepe Interchange ramps, the speed limit is 30km.
The 30km limit applies to:
1. the Curepe Interchange Ramp A from the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Eastbound) (West of the Southern Main Road) to the Southern Main Road (Northbound) (east to north movement);
2. Curepe Interchange Ramp B North Western Clover Ramp (north of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway) from the Southern Main Road (Northbound) to the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Eastbound) (south to east movement);
3. Curepe Interchange Ramp C North Eastern Clover Ramp (north of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway) from the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Eastbound) to the Southern Main Road (Southbound);
4. Curepe Interchange Ramp D from the Southern Main Road (Southbound) (north of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway) to the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Eastbound) (south to east movement);
5. Curepe Interchange Ramp E from the Southern Main Road (Northbound) (south of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway) to the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Westbound) (north to west movement);
6. Curepe Interchange Ramp F South Eastern Clover Ramp (south of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway) from the Southern Main Road (Southbound) to the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Westbound) (south to west movement); and
7. Curepe Interchange Ramp G from the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (Westbound) (east of the Southern Main Road) to the Southern Main Road in a southerly direction (west to south movement)
