Several people injured after race car crashes into pit during International Motorsports event at Wallerfield

One of the Costa Rican cars competing in the International Motorsports Festival at Wallerfield crashed into the pit area during a race on Sunday afternoon.

The black and green Subaru lost control while coming around the sharp bend near the pit area and crashed into a concrete barrier, very close to where Team Speedway’s Renault RS01 was parked.

According to reports, several persons who were standing at the pit area were injured, and some were taken away by ambulance for treatment.

Fire and ambulance services were on standby at the race and moved into action when the incident occurred.

The unlimited 20 laps race that was underway had approximately five laps remaining. That race and the subsequent ones were suspended, bringing an abrupt end to the three-day festival.
