Security guard shot dead at Carapichaima Anglican Primary School

A 37-year-old security guard was shot dead by a fellow guard at the Carapichaima Anglican Primary School on Tuesday night.

Around 10:15pm, first responders attached to the Freeport Police Station were on mobile patrol, when they received a report of man on the school premises.

They arrived at the location shortly after 11pm and met an armed MTS security guard.

The guard claimed he encountered an intruder in a classroom while checking the building.

He also told the officers that he fired one shot after the man allegedly pointed what appeared to be a firearm in his direction.

The deceased has since been identified as 37-year-old Dillon Berkley, who is also an MTS guard, but stationed at a different school.

Police reportedly recovered a firearm at the scene, along with a crow bar and a bolt cutter.
