Gov’t Continues To Work With Scrap Iron Dealers To Improve Industry, Says AG

There is no confusion in the collection or export of scrap metal from Trinidad and Tobago.

Attorney General, Reginald Armour, made this point known during the question and answer period in the Senate on Tuesday.

The AG said the government has held continued consultation with stakeholders in the industry.

On February 24th this year certain parts of the Scrap Metal Act, 2022, were proclaimed.

The AG told the Senate the government is committed to the full implementation of the remaining sections of the Act in the shortest possible time but this requires the full cooperation of and compliance of industry stake holders.
