Former Police commissioner Gary Griffith continues to defend UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s controversial comments regarding shooting criminals.
Speaking at the UNC’s supporters’ meeting in Palms Club San Fernando last night, Griffith accused her political opponents of lying.
He emphasized that she never encouraged the use of excessive force.
Griffith explained that rules surrounding the use of firearms have been changed to allow citizens to ably defend themselves.
He noted that while he was Polcie Commissioner, the rules were changed to allow FUL holders to carry a maximum of 50 rounds of ammunition as many assailants are now armed with assault rifles.
