Trey Songz cleared in Vegas sexual assault case

While Trey Songz is still embroiled in numerous lawsuits involving women who have accused him of sexual assault, the R&B crooner put one legal issue to rest on Friday (April 8), as the Las Vegas Police Department announced they’re no longer investigating him for rape.

As broken by TMZ, Trey was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while in town to celebrate his 37th birthday party last November. The incident had allegedly occurred after hours at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel when the “Heart Attack” singer and his entourage returned from Drai’s Nightclub with numerous women.

“The LVMPD has concluded the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Tremaine Neverson and determined that no criminal charges will be filed,” police told TMZ. “If any new evidence comes to light, the case will be reopened for further investigation.”

“We are pleased that Trey Songz has been cleared of wrongdoing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation has officially been closed,” said Trey’s attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld. “We are grateful to the LVMPD for the professional police work done and their thorough investigation, which included findings of inconsistency in witness testimony and insufficient evidence. We are pleased that Trey can now return to what he does best, entertaining.”

As previously noted, Trey Songz is still facing multiple legal battles elsewhere involving other women. He was recently accused by a Jane Doe of anally raping her at a house party in Los Angeles. The $20 million civil lawsuit referred to Trey as a “savage rapist,” and said the pair maintained a consensual relationship until 2016.

Jane Doe’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell, is also representing two other women who are suing Trey Songz for alleged sexual assaults in New York and Miami.

“Victims are coming forward every day,” Mitchell said. “Just know you are not alone, and this behavior is unacceptable. George Vrabeck and I will not be deterred by bullying or intimidation tactics and will continue our pursuit of Justice for sexual assault victims of Trey Songz.”

In January, Trey also faced another sexual assault allegation from a Jane Doe in Georgia who said the singer invited her into a Miami nightclub after a 2018 New Year’s Eve party, only to put “his hand under her dress, without her consent and attempt to insert his fingers into [her] vagina without her consent or permission.” The accuser filed a civil suit against the crooner for $10 million.

In December 2021, former University of Las Vegas women’s basketball star Dylan Gonzalez also publicly accused the singer of being a rapist, tweeting, “Trey Songz is a rapist. Lord forgive me I couldn’t hold that in another year. See you in 2022.”

Trey Songz has denied all allegations.
