Customs and Excise Division officers seized a large number of firearms at the Central warehouse on Thursday.
Customs officials were conducting a routine examination of imported cargo around 1pm, when they discovered several high-powered firearms, firearm accessories and a quantity of ammunition concealed in a metal crate.
The estimated street value of these items is approximately TT$600,000.
A statement by Customs says a person of interest is assisting with the investigations and charges with respect to the importation of restricted goods and goods concealed in a manner calculated to deceive Customs officers are to be laid against the individual.
