A 60-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $175,000 with a surety when he appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Tuesday 6th July 2021.
The accused was charged with the offence of sexual penetration of a six-year-old girl. He was also ordered to have no direct or indirect communication with the girl, and to stay 100 feet away from her.
Jeffery Hodgkinson, of Diego Martin, was arrested after a relative of the minor made a report to the police on 30th January 2020. The girl reported an offence of sexual penetration sometime between 23rd January and 30th January, 2020.
Ag Cpl Mc Kain, of the Port of Spain Child Protection Unit, conducted an investigation into the matter which resulted in the arrest and charge of Hodgkinson on July 4th 2021.
The accused is expected to reappear at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on 3rd August, 2021 to answer the charge.
Investigations were supervised by W/Supt Ag. Claire Guy- Alleyne, ASP Ramnarine, and Insp. (Ag) Lopez of the Child Protection Unit.
