$300,000 in firearms and accessories seized by Customs at Port of POS

Customs and Excise seized a quantity of firearms, ammunition, firearms parts and other accessories at a transit shed at the Port of Port of Spain on Friday.

Around 12:15pm, Customs officers were conducting routine examinations of a barrel when they discovered one Mossberg shotgun, one Glock 19 pistol, 5 Taurus, 1 Ruger, 1 M4 Crossman rifle, 182 rounds 12 GA cartridges, 2,870 rounds of 9mm, 760 rounds .38 caliber, 400 rounds of 7.62, 100 rounds of .22, 30 rounds of .40, 500 rounds of 177, 6,000 Crossman BB’s, 16 x 9mm magazines, 5 beta drums, one tritium night sight, 1 x 9mm barrel, three pistol holsters, 12 rifles slings and four sling hooks.

The items were shipped from Florida, United States and were packed in various bags that were labelled as personal effects.

Personnel from TTPS Special Investigations Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit assisted in the processing of the contraband goods. They have a street value of $350,000 and three persons are assisting with the investigations.
