Young: Human trafficking being addressed

National Security Minister, Stuart Young, says human trafficking and smuggling continues to be a serious development which the Government is addressing.

Speaking in the Senate on Tuesday, Minister Young commented on the recent drowning of Venezuelans who were reportedly trying to get to Trinidad and Tobago.

He stressed that the borders of T&T and Venezuela remain closed and it’s illegal for people to enter without requisite permission and authority.

Young said they have expanded surveillance, information gathering and intensification of deliberately targeted operations against people involved in the human smuggling and trafficking trade.
