The Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation says work will be done to restore the Eddie Hart Savannah following Independence Day celebrations.
Complaints were raised about the condition of the grounds following the “From 62 to 62” event on August 31st, with criticism also coming from MP Arnold Ram.
In a press release, the TPRC reminds that there was “unexpected heavy rainfall” on the day and notes that it is aware of concerns about the event’s impact on the savannah.
It adds that a team of corporation representatives and UWI officials conducted a site assessment and developed a detailed plan for remedial works to restore the grounds to optimal condition.
Furthermore, the TPRC says works are carded to begin in January 2025 to upgrade the savannah.
These works, it adds, includes rehabilitation of the field and jogging track, construction of upgraded cricket nets, new drainage and new pavilion facilities.
