A road widening exercise has begun on Auchenskeoch-Buccoo Bay Road in Carnbee, Tobago.
The THA’s Division of Infrastructure says the work is to address traffic congestion and road safety infractions occurring along a critical 600-metre segment of the roadway, from Scipio Trace towards the warehouse, opposite the Carnbee Gas Station.
The project began on August 5th and is being undertaken and supervised by in-house teams.
The scope of work includes:
-Widening of approximately 240m of roadway by a maximum of 1.7m
-Reconstruction of sidewalk and curb and slipper drain
-Remarking of roadway to provide exit and merging lanes near the Carnbee Gas station
-Relocation of electric poles and waterline
-Installation of traffic signs and delineator posts
-Provision of traffic restriction measures at selected entrances to improve flow and safety
Over the next four weeks, some level of disruption can be expected, particularly during periods of heavy construction.
Motorists are therefore advised to use alternative routes via Shirvan Road; All Fields Trace North; Carnbee No. 1; or Scipio Trace.
