A Penal woman is fortunate to be alive after she was shot to the head during a home invasion on Sunday.
A police report said that the incident occurred around 8.30 p.m. on Sunday at Gonzales Trace, Sunrees Road.
The 26-year-old victim was at home with her husband and family when the husband reported hearing a knock at the front door.
He opened it and was greeted by a man dressed in all-black clothing and a white mask pointing a firearm at him. The husband ran into the bedroom, and moments later he heard an explosion.
He later found his wife suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and she was rushed to hospital.
The gunshot wound did not fracture her skull, and she was treated and discharged from hospital.
