A 36-year-old woman’s SUV was returned to her after she was robbed at gunpoint in her Cascade home.
The incident occurred around 3:30pm on Tuesday as the woman returned home. The bandits, one armed with a gun, exited a blue Hyundai Tuscon and took the keys to the woman’s Black Nissan X-Trail valued at over $250,000. They also relieved her of a ruby gem, two wedding bands, and her engagement ring (worth $54,000) before driving off in her vehicle.
Mere hours after the robbery, the woman was told by officers from the Belmont Police Station that her SUV had been recovered in Port-of-Spain. A tip off led the officers to the location of her vehicle. Her jewelry was not found.
The SUV is expected to be examined by crime scene investigators for clues. Police will also look at footage from CCTV cameras in the area to assist with their investigation.
