Woman found submerged in barrel of water

Homicide detectives are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old Shannon Whyte.

Whyte from Mon Repos Road, Morvant, was found by her husband submerged in a barrel of water, and a firearm with a spent shell was near the body.

Her husband, Kerry Babb told police that he arrived home around 9.30 p.m. and found Whyte in a blue barrel filled with water and contacted police.

When officers arrived, they found Whyte’s body in the barrel and then observed a firearm nearby with a magazine, 20 rounds and one spent shell of 40 calibre ammunition.
