A woman drowned while fishing at Hydraulic Road in Kelly Village, Caroni on Sunday 30th June, 2024, just as citizens were shutting-in, in preparation for the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Christine Beepath of Hydraulic Trace, Kelly Village, Caroni.
Around 6:05pm, Beepath was in the water fishing with her boyfriend, a Venezuelan national identified as Jose Romero and another man identified as “Papi”, when she started experiencing difficulties and went under water.
She was recovered unresponsive and the police and emergency health services were notified.
Attempts were made to resuscitate her; however, it proved futile and Beepath was pronounced dead.
