Woman drowns after falling out boat in Cedros

Mere days after a teen drowned after falling from a pirogue he was in, an Icacos woman has now lost her life in a similar fashion.

Around 9.30 am on Thursday, Devika Edwards, 47, of Icacos Village, was among a group of people who went on a fishing trip.

Police were told that while at sea, Edwards fell out of the boat and went underwater.

A member of the boat’s crew was able to pull her back into the boat and she was then rushed to shore and taken to the Cedros Health Centre.

However she died shortly after arrival.

Investigations are continuing.
