A 30-year-old woman is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate tomorrow, charged with the Manslaughter of her nine-month-old daughter.
SHALINI RAMSAROOP, of New Grant, was charged with the offence following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, George Busby on September 30th 2022.
On Wednesday 21st September, 2022, an unregistered nine-month-old female was brought unresponsive to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation into the matter, a female relative of the child was arrested.
Investigations were spearheaded by Supt. (Ag.) Dhillpaul, supervised by Insp. Jones and included Sgts. Elvin and Forbes, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.
Ramsaroop was charged with the offence by Sgt. Ramdial of the Southern Division, on September 30th 2022.
