Woman beaten and robbed by bandits who said it was a message for her husband

A 49-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed during a home invasion along Arena Road in Brazil.

The victim told police she was sitting in her living room feeding her son around 5:30pm on Monday afternoon, when she felt an object by her neck and heard someone saying do not move.

She soon observed four masked men in her home, two armed with cutlasses while the other two had firearms.

One of the masked men hit her with a gun butt to her mouth and pushed her two children and herself into her bedroom. The men then told her to stay calm and hand over the money and jewellery.

The woman compiled by handing over TT$5,500 as well as $15,000 worth in jewellery.

The suspects then told the woman “this is a message for her husband” and that they will return, before exiting through a back door in the property.

The woman checked on her children and notified the police.

PC Graham is continuing enquiries.
