Woman, 53, gunned down in home invasion

A 53-year-old woman was shot and killed while a female relative narrowly escaped gunmen at a house in Champs Fleurs early on Tuesday morning.
Police reports state that a 24-year-old relative was at the house on William Street, Champs Fleurs, at after just after 1.10 am when she heard gunshots coming from a bedroom.
On checking the bedroom she saw her relative Rosemarie Harricharan bleeding.
The woman said the gunman shot at her but missed before running away.
Police were called in with a district medical officer who declared Harricharan dead.
Crime scene investigators found four spent shells, four live rounds of ammunition, and three deformed bullets.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II is continuing enquiries.
