A video began circulating on Facebook on Monday about a possible party at a water park in Chaguaramas.
An eyewitness shared the 29-second video, in which he noted persons were not socially distancing. It also appeared that more than 25 persons were at the event.
Speaking to Wired868 about the event, Police Commissioner Gary Griffith said, “It was brought to my intention and I am now liaising with the ACP of the North-West division to verify if the police was aware of this and if any laws or regulations were being breached and why wasn’t it stopped.”
On Saturday, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said that with the new cases of Covid-19 popping up in the country, the entertainment sector’s reopening needed to be placed on hold.
As a result, and according to Public Health Regulations, party boats, public parties, public fetes and clubs are not permitted to be open for business.
Persons in breach of the regulations could be fined up to $50,000 and serve six months in jail.
The water park officially opened its doors in June, in time for the lifting of restrictions for beaches and other bodies of water.
Take a look at the video below and you decide if they are in breach of the regulations.
