Government plans to revisit the arrangements for Children’s Home locally.
Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy, says the government is determined to ensure children are well care for in their families.
However, where this is not possible alternative family options like adoption, foster and kinship care will be rigorously pursued.
The Minister told the parliament on Thursday during the Budget Debate it is not the states intention to close down children’s home at will but the aim is to review the arrangements at some of the existing Children’s Homes to ensure smaller, familiar type settings are established and adhere to at all times.
