A Yellow level alert has been issued for Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said the alert is expected to end around 2:00pm today, Saturday.
According to TTMS, a low level trough with favourable upper level conditions is currently over the area and resulting in occasional thunderstorms which have been accompanied by wind gusts in excess of 75 km/h.
Persons are advised to monitor weather conditions and updates from official sources via www.metoffice.gov.tt and www.odpm.gov.tt
The weather has already impacted several areas.
The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard received a distress call from a pirogue who were seeking shelter near to the Enchantment of the Seas vessel at sea.
They are reported to be ok, as they were trying to hide from the strong winds associated with the weather conditions.
Additionally, a big tree fell around the Savannah in Port-of-Spain which caused a traffic pile ip.
