Wear masks while on shore, or face another beach ban

Beachgoers are being reminded to wear masks while on the shorelines of beaches.

A release from the Health Ministry said some persons are flouting the rule despite current public health guidelines mandating the wearing of face masks, shields or coverings in public spaces, including beaches.

The Ministry said it is expected that persons will remove their masks to bathe in beach waters, but they have noticed that some are not wearing them on the shorelines.

The Ministry is seeking to ensure that the recent gains in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic are maintained. Therefore, they are depending on the cooperation of the public so that this recent relaxation in the public health measures will not have to be re-considered and that beaches can remain open, for everyone’s benefit.
