Supporters of outgoing Couva North MP, Ramona Ramdial, are not easing up and are letting the UNC executive know how they feel.
Chanting “Ramona! Ramona!” and “We want Ramona back,” a group of residents from Temple Street, Bank Village, Carapichaima, staged a protest on Sunday, calling on UNC leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessa to meet with them before Nomination Day.
Party member Rajesh Rattan, said they are hoping that the executive would change their minds and give them their representative back.
This is the second such action in a matter of days.
Last Friday, a similar action was held at Orange Field, Couva.
The UNC Screening Committee chose to go with Ravi Ratiram as the new Couva North candidate, however the residents say they don’t know him like they do Ramdial and do not want him.
Residents said the UNC Leader has always preached the mantra “the voice of the people is the voice of God”, but does not seem to be adhering to that.
Some residents went as far as to say that if Ramdial was not reinstated, they would not be voting.
