“We must not be afraid of change; there is no success without change” PM on Budget

“That  Budget that was presented on Monday was probably one of the best budgets that was presented by this Government even though it was presented in a very difficult situation.”
This according to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley while speaking at the official opening of the Diego Martin Health Facility.
Dr. Rowley said he thinks the Finance Minister, Colm Imbert and his team did their very best with the 2020/2021 Fiscal Budget, and that it represents what the country’s priorities are and what can be done moving forward with the current resources.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister on the Port Authority being handed over to the Private Sector, said the foreign or local investments they will make on their own can be done on an international level.
He said focus on upgrading the Port can be done with a greater advantage for success.
He also said citizens ought not to be afraid of this new change, as the Government can foresee greater rewards for the Port and its workers.
Finance Minister announced on Monday 5th October that Public Port agencies have been moving away from the service port model under which national port authorities provide all commercial services as well as regulatory functions; but increasingly have been utilizing the landlord model.
The Government has decided to adopt this approach with the Port Authority retaining its regulatory and asset management functions, but with managerial, operational and financial responsibility for commercial activities such as terminals and equipment in the port area under a new investor.
