WASA: Several water treatment plants in Tobago and North Trinidad impacted by weather

The Water and Sewerage Authority’s (WASA) has advised that several of its water facilities in Tobago and North Trinidad have been impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

WASA said that around 8am, power failure affected operations at its Bloody Bay, King’s Bay, Highland Road, and Charlotteville Water Treatment Plants.

High turbidity due to heavy rainfall and clogged screens caused by flooded river conditions also impacted the Hillsborough West facility.

In North Trinidad, similar conditions have affected the Quare, Tompire, La Pastora, L&N, Acono, La Fillette, and Las Cuevas facilities.

The Authority said it’s working to restore operations at these facilities in the shortest possible timeframe.
