WASA assures water quality in Maracas Valley safe

Following reports of possible water contimination in the Maracas Valley area, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has confirmed that the water supply in Maracas Valley, St Joseph, meets World Health Organization (WHO) standards and is safe for consumption.

This assurance follows concerns raised.

In a statement yesterday, WASA indicated that its lab personnel responded immediately by conducting water quality sampling and testing at multiple locations along the distribution system, as well as at the two primary water treatment facilities supplying the area—the L&N and Acono plants.

The results from all samples confirmed that the water leaving both plants, as well as throughout the distribution system, adheres to WHO safety standards.

WASA emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest water quality and reassured residents that it would continue to monitor the situation closely and carry out additional testing to ensure that the standards are consistently met.
