Wade Mark “Opposition rejects EBC Motion” in budget debate

The United National Congress in a press conference Sunday morning strongly condemned the Government for its intention to insert and debate an EBC Motion tomorrow budget day. While nothing can actually prevent the Government from moving and passing the Motion which requires a simply majority vote from adding the Motion for debate after the budget, it is a very unusual move since traditionally for decades the National budget debate usually stands as the only item on the Order paper on budget day.

Leader of Opposition business in the Senate Wade Mark insisted that the government was trampling on what he described as scared ground by this intended action and that the budget and following Finance committee stages should not be interrupted by any other matter.
