Chief Executive Officer of Vision on Mission, Giselle Chance, estimates at least five to 25% percent of persons at its rehabilitation facilities would have been involved in gangs.
The VOM CEO made the revelation while speaking during today’s Joint Select Committee on National Security today.
The JSC inquired into strategies to combat the prevalence of organized criminal gangs in Trinidad and Tobago with a special focus on measures implemented to identity vulnerable youth and early intervention.
The VOM CEO also spoke of the work that goes in trying to reform clients.
Chairman of the Vision on Mission Board, Gerard Wilson, spoke of some of the factors which attract young persons to gangs.
Programme Consultant at Vision on Mission, Gordon Husbands, focused on what takes place in communities and how they influence the actions of individuals.
