Barbados Health Minister Lt. Col Jeffrey Bostic indicated earlier that the ventilators purchased by Bajan songstress, Rihanna, to assist the island in its COVID-19 response have been paid for but seized in the United States.
Bostic corrected his statement – indicating that the seized ventilators were not from those donated by Rihanna, but from another philanthropist.
Five of the Rihanna donated ventilators are due next week.
The announcement was made during a live Facebook media’s briefing in Barbados this morning.
Rihanna reportedly spent $700,000 worth of ventilators for the people of Barbados, according to ET Canada.
The country’s Prime Minister Mia Mottley made the announcement that the singer will be supporting her native country amid Coronavirus concerns.
