In September, Venezuela will receive the first batch of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine for the third phase of clinical trials. This was announced by the President of the South American Republic Nicolas Maduro.
Another batch of vaccine will be delivered in October, he said. “I will propose to be vaccinated with the Russian vaccine to all 14 thousand candidates who registered to participate in the elections,” Maduro quoted TASS as saying. The Venezuelan leader is convinced that vaccinations will allow applicants for seats in the National Assembly to conduct campaigns safely.
We will remind, in August, Venezuela expressed a desire to take part in the tests of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V”. Health Minister Carlos Alvarado said 500 volunteers are ready to be vaccinated.
On August 11st, Russia was the first in the world to register a coronavirus vaccine, dubbed Sputnik V. The drug was developed by the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaleya of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Many countries are already interested in the Russian vaccine.
