Venezuelans told job letters not mandatory for re-registration

Venezuelans currently updating their registration cards will not need a mandatory job letter.

The National Security Ministry announced on Tuesday morning via a tweet in both English and Spanish, that: “Venezuelan Migrant Re-registration Exercise: A job letter is not mandatory to re-register.”

The re-registration process of Venezuelans in TT has been slow since the process began last Monday, as many of them have stated that the issue was getting job letters from employers.

16,523 Venezuelans have cards showing proof of registration and their ability to work and live in TT.

They are required to drop off their documents to three Immigration Division offices. This update will give refugees the opportunity to obtain a new card with a possible six-month extension.
