Venezuelans in TT to re-register; drop box system being developed

National Security Minister Stuart Young has revealed that Venezuelans who are registered to live and work in Trinidad and Tobago, will soon have to re-register and have their current information updated.

Speaking on Wednesday, Young said the Venezuelans who are already registered are going to be asked to fill out forms and provide up-to-date information before receiving new cards.

He assured that the process would not be the same as the last, where thousands of Venezuelans were lined up for hours trying to register.

Young said that in light of the pandemic and Covid 19 health protocols, the immigration division will be developing a drop-box system.

He said the re-registration should last up to six months in the first instance with, again, the option to go for a full year.

Young said anyone who was not registered before cannot do so now.
