The Minister of National Security has revealed that on Friday, March 26, approximately 13.800 Venezuelans requested a renewal of their card, in order to continue living and working in T&T.
However, over 16,000 Venezuelans registered in the first instance last year.
In light of the low number of registrants this time around, Minister Stuart Young has decided to facilitate the extension of the renewal process until Friday, April 9, 2021 to grant additional six (6) working days so that eligible people who want to renew, can deliver their complete forms.
The ministry reiterated that while work and homeowners letters are desirable, they are not mandatory.
Venezuelan citizens who fail to register again under existing process and day will undergo deportation (like all illegal immigrants in Trinidad and Tobago.)
Therefore, people who are eligible for renewal who have not yet done so should make sure they renew it during this final prolongation period.
