A ransom of six kilos of cocaine is being demanded for the release of a Venezuelan couple.
Reports indicate that Juan Ruiz Espinoza, 23, and his wife Betzabett Guitte, 20 were on their way to meet a friend on High Street, Princes Town on Sunday but never showed. Instead, the friend got a call from a Spanish-speaking man informing him that both Espinoza and Guitte had been kidnapped and would only be released if the ransom of six kilos of cocaine was paid. The deadline date for the ransom was yesterday.
Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit responded to the report and questioned residents and relatives of the couple. The kidnapper has not contacted the couple’s friends or relatives since the initial ransom demand was made.
Espinoza was last seen wearing an orange pair of three-quarter pants and a black and white T-shirt. Guitte, his wife was last seen wearing a pair of blue jeans, a white T-shirt and grey sneakers.
Investigations are continuing.
