Venezuelan Authorities Contacted In Case Of Missing Fishermen

The Venezuelan authorities have been contacted concerning the disappearance of four fishermen from Mayaro.

The fishermen left Guayaguayare Fishing Port in a vessel named Benom on January 31st.

It was retrieved on February 5th 2023.

Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Dr Amery Browne, was asked in the Senate on Tuesday by the Opposition whether the Venezuelan authorities will be requested to assist in the search.

Dr Browne said the Venezuelan authorities have been contacted and the relevant information and requests conveyed in accordance with maritime protocol.

Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, also wanted to know if countries have been considering encouraging other countries in helping in the efforts in located the fishermen outside of the Venezuelan authorities.
