Former Trade Minister Vasant Bharath says there’s absolutely no reason why prices on grocery shelves should not go down if global prices reduce.
While there has not been a return to pre-pandemic rates, the world supply chains are resolving and commodity prices and freight costs are reducing so eventually the expectation is that consumers would see the benefit of these lowered costs.
Speaking with Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show this morning Bharath said that when there is an increase in global prices it’s reflected on the shelves on supermarkets therefore the same should be true when they go down.
He said that it would not be realistic to wait till year’s end to reflect a decrease in prices.
