Valencia taxi driver beaten and robbed of his car and cash

A 44-year-old Valencia taxi driver was beaten and robbed of his vehicle, $400 in cash and his cellphone on Monday night.

Police reported that around 10:15 pm, driver Marcus Thomas of Mt Carmel, Valencia, was plying his car for hire on the Arima to Valencia route, when he picked up two male passengers and two female passengers on the Arima taxi stand.

When he arrived at Cassava Drive, La Platta Gardens, Valencia, the male back seat passenger placed an unknown object to his neck and announced a hold up.

The men allowed the female passengers to exit the vehicle before driving off.

Police are investigating.
