UWI St. Augustine ranked amongst the top 2.5% of the best universities in the world

The University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus is ranked amongst the 2.5% of the best universities in the world in terms of the impact of its research, leadership and policy frame work.

The Times Higher Education released the 2021 Global University Rankings for the category—national, regional and international “Impact”.

The rankings for 2021 are more competitive than prior years.

In 2020, 768 universities were ranked from 85 countries.

In 2021, the number increased to 1,115 universities from 98 countries and cities, an increase of 45 percent.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles made the announcement during a news briefing today.

Professor Beckles explained why the ranking is important.

Professor Beckles also spoke about the benefits of the UWI forming international partnerships.
