Talent development is extremely important in the Digital Transformation Ecosystem, as such telecommunications giant Huawei has taken the decision to work with universities, institutions and government authorities to integrate efforts into a comprehensive initiative which is called the “The ICT Talent Development Plan”.
The initiative aims to prepare young local talents to lead ICT solutions, details of which were expanded upon by Tudor John, Account Director – Enterprise Business Group – Huawei T&T, during a ceremony held at the office of the Campus Principal, UWI St Augustine on Wednesday.
Huawei and the University of the West Indies cemented their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Pro Vice Chancellor and Campus Principal Professor Brian Copeland and Huawei T&T CEO Evan Zhou.
Prof Copeland spoke to the benefits of this partnership as it relates to the University’s overall strategic plan of gap bridging academia and industry.
