US Embassy Remains Committed To Tackling Impact Of Climate Change On T&T’s Historic Sites

The US Embassy in Port of Spain remains committed to tackling the issue of climate change, as the issue has been gaining particular attention in the Caribbean region.

This is evident in its partnership with the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago.

US Chargé d’Affaires Shante Moore, in April, delivered remarks as the National Trust officially launched the Resilient Heritage Research Program which is funded by a U.S. Embassy grant, to the tune of US$200,000,  under the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation.

The programme, a collaboration between the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago and the University of Florida Historic Preservation Program, is a two-phase initiative to advance the resilience and long-term preservation of Trinidad and Tobago’s historic sites that are impacted by climate change and sea level rise.

The Embassy’s commitment was reiterated by Chargé d’Affaires Moore during a tour of the Nelson Island Heritage Site on Sunday.
