Upgrade work is coming for Port of Spain General Hospital next year.
This is according to Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh.
He said the new central block of the Port of Spain General Hospital is expected to be finished by 2024.
He made the statement to the media after visiting women who gave birth on Christmas Day at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Deyalsingh said he does not have an exact date for the completion of the central block, noting there are many variables the ministry does not have control over, but he was taking a personal interest in its demolition and rebuilding.
The Health Minister revealed the old central block of the hospital is being demolished presently and that process should be completed by the January 2024.
He disclosed when that’s finished there are plans for a total re-beautification of the hospital.
