UPDATE: Missing vessel in La Brea recovered, no sign of fisherman

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard says a missing vessel in the La Brea area has been recovered.

However, the TTCG says searches are continuing for a missing man.

TTCG says it received information from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on Sunday concerning a robbery at sea that occurred on Saturday at 8:30pm.

In a media release, the TTCG says it was alleged two persons engaged in fishing had been forced to jump into the waters off La Brea by bandits who later stole their vessel.

It says one of the men was able to make it ashore but lost sight of the other who is presumed to be missing.

The TTCG dispatched a vessel to search the area where the incident occurred for the missing fisherman and his vessel.

The TTCG says it remains committed to serving the needs of the public of Trinidad and Tobago by providing maritime security in the face of the threat of Covid-19 to maintain the safety and security through the conduct of maritime security patrols within our area of maritime operations.
