Head of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Inspector of Police Mark Hernandez has been charged pursuant to the Police Service Act, Chapter 15:01, for misbehaviour in public office by encouraging the unlawful assault by beating of David Ottley Jr., thereby occasioning him to sustain actual bodily hard contrary to common law.
Hernandez was charged following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Monday 19th April, 2021.
His Attorney at Law, Gerard Ramdeen spoke to members of the media outside of the Maloney Police Station this afternoon.
The accused was arrested by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, and Northern Division Criminal Investigations Unit, on Wednesday 14th April, 2021.
Hernandez was charged by Cpl (Ag.) Marcano of the Maloney Police Station.
