Counsel for the Commission of Enquiry into the Paria diving tragedy, Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, claims the hiring of staff which was not qualified resulted in the deaths of the four divers.
Mr Maharaj made the claim known during his deliberations at the enquiry on Friday.
He cited the hiring of one of the technicians at the energy company, in particular, expanding on details he adopted for his line of reasoning.
Mr Maharaj said the person in question also failed to conduct the relevant meetings necessary to ensure the company’s was in a better position to properly carry out its duties on the day in question.
