Unofficial registry of sex offenders found

A website called mytrinixperience.com has created an unofficial registry of violent offenders against women.

The site is basically a compilation of articles highlighting cases of persons “CHARGED” with violent crimes against women across Trinidad and Tobago. The face of each individual mentioned is also there.

The site states that the aim is to make Trinidad and Tobago a safer place for all women and girls to flourish.

According to what’s written in its About Us portion of the site, it says-
“We know and understand that many cases never make it to court and many victims and survivors don’t get an opportunity to share their stories. So get in touch with us because we will love to highlight your story across our social platforms
We highlight the stories of Survivors, those who’s perpetrators have been charged and some of those that never made it to the courts. The latter we aim to share mostly on our Social Media Platforms which you can find below. Be sure to follow us across all channels!”

The site, of course, is not an official government page.

Now, for those that don’t know, Trinidad and Tobago, does indeed have a sex offenders registry.

The issue is that the registry is open to members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) only.

That electronic registry is intended to maintain a report of the particulars of sex offenders who have been mandated by the court to give notification.

Mytrinixperience seems fairly new and is appealing to visitors for a donation of £1 to help the website and its valuable information online and available to all.
