The National Youth Arm of the United National Congress stands firmly in support of the Leadership of Kamla Persad Bissessar SC as the recent Local Government Election results prove that she is the best choice to secure, rebuild and develop our nation.
The Youth Arm, via a release, said: On August 14th the United National Congress led by Mrs. Kamla Persad Bissessar won the popular vote, majority of seats contested and made significant gains in areas once thought to be “PNM strongholds”, demonstrating that the Leader of the Opposition has transformed the UNC into a national institution of hope, attractive to all citizens from all walks of life.
The UNC heavily defeated Local Government Minister Faris Al Rawi in his own San Fernando West Constituency grabbing both Marabella West and Marabella South /Vistabella showing that the party is ready to grab this seat in a general election.
In Sangre Grande, the UNC turned a battleground region into a UNC stronghold as the party also increased its majority on the council. Gone are the days when the East-west corridor could be considered “PNM territory” as the party reduced many Arima seats to single digit margins, turned many “strong PNM” seats in the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation marginal and gained an additional alderman in the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation.
Having thoroughly analyzed the results of the Local Government Election, it is clear that Persad Bissessar SC together with the UNC National Executive has placed the party on the path to victory at the next General Election.
These results were due to the persistent determination of the UNC Leader together with the UNC executive to build the party structures, develop the party organs, work with other stakeholders, and give a voice to all citizens of our nation.
Given the grave unemployment, lack of opportunities, crime and economic decay burdening the youth of our nation, the UNC National Youth Arm is of the view that we have the best Leader to rebuild and secure T&T
