UNC Women call out Minister Cox for her lack of care and respect for the less fortunate

The Women’s Arm of the United National Congress has joined the chorus of those slamming the Minister of Social Development Donna Cox for her recent comment that “there are some in need and some are greedy,” in reference to a recent hamper distribution event.

According to the Women’s Arm chairman Kenya Charles, Minister Cox is just another example of the callousness and downright degrading attitude of this Government during this Covid Pandemic!

According to their release:
On Friday 25th June there were long lines of citizens outside of South Park Mall waiting for Food Hampers including women with not just “one tear drop” like the Hon. Minister of Health, but with real tears in their eyes. This is sending a clear, urgent and repeated message that “Hunger may very well kill us before coronavirus”

People are not truly free when they are unable to feed their families! People are not truly free when they are unable to retire with dignity! People are not truly free when they are unemployed! People are not truly free when they have no proper health care!

To the Minister of Social Development, Donna Cox the Women’s Arm of the UNC is saying to you “If you cannot be humbled enough to understand and address the hunger of your citizens, then we request that you step down immediately, as it is very clear that because of your lack of care and respect for the less fortunate you lack the impetus and therefore have no idea what the common citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are going in these trying times”!

There is enough in this Country for everyone’s need, but not enough for this Government’s greed Donna!
